Transcriptionists:

Flexible work load: Transcriptionists can choose the amount of work they want that is consistent with their training, experience, availability, and work available.

Flexible hours: Transcriptionists can set their own work hours.

Flexible location: Transcriptionists can work at home or from virtually any place where internet access is available.

Flexible time off: Working with a group of transcriptionists allows freedom to take time off that can otherwise be difficult to arrange when carrying the sole transcription responsibility for a health care provider.
Requirements:
Katwa is always looking for energetic medical language specialists to join us and contribute to our combined success. We offer primarily commission based positions.

Transcriptionists must devote the time necessary to gain adequate knowledge of medical terminology.

Transcriptionists must provide, maintain, and upgrade their own equipment:

Computer with high speed internet access and e mail address

Word processor (Microsoft Word or WordPerfect)

Medical spellchecker (we recommend Stedman's Plus Medical Spellchecker)

Transcriptionists must provide any optional materials they feel they need:

Computerized medical dictionary (We recommend Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictionary)

Drug Reference (We recommend Quick Look Electronic Drug Reference)

Lab test handbook (We recommend the Laboratory Test Handbook)

Transcriptionists are responsible for timely completion of work.

Transcriptionists are responsible for thorough, complete work, including proper spelling, word usage, required layout of documents, and review of corrected dictation.

Transcriptionists are responsible for submitting invoices to Katwa on a weekly, bi monthly, or monthly basis.

Transcriptionists are responsible for their own income taxes. All of our MTs are Independent Contractors (IC), and we provide assistance for anyone just starting out as an IC. They are allowed to determine their own hours and work load. Katwa will provide 1099's at the end of each calendar year.
Reimbursement:

Rate of pay is based on the transcriptionist's experience and knowledge.

Reimbursement is calculated per line of completed transcription and based on invoices submitted weekly, bi weekly, or monthly by transcriptionists.
We pay our medical language specialists on a 65 character line, with headers and footers included, no spaces. Raises will be awarded based on volume, consistency, work type, and quality of work.
Communication with our main office is minimal (usually via e mail) so your productivity is not interrupted. Completed reports are submitted online to eliminate transmission costs. We require a minimum of 600 lines per 24 hour period.
